Getting started

After you install and configure Replication Server and the Replication Manager:

  1. Start Sybase Central.

  2. Create a new replication environment, which will consist of all the Adaptive Server Enterprise servers and Replication Servers that participate in replication, along with the databases and the data contained within the databases.

  3. Configure your new environment by adding the data servers, Replication Servers, Replication Agents, and DirectConnect servers that you want to manage.

After you create an environment, Sybase Central displays a three-paned window that contains icons for the servers managed in the environment. Use this window to monitor the status of the servers. Using this window, you can run menu commands to diagnose and manage the servers and other components of your replication system. Use the lower pane of this window to view the event log.

From Sybase Central, you can manage local and geographically distributed components of a replication system. For tasks that you perform using Replication Manager, see Performing common tasks.
