When adding servers, you must assign a user name and password that have been granted certain permissions:
Replication Server – sa permissions
Adaptive Server Enterprise – the sa_role and the sso_role

To create a replication environment:
Start Sybase Central.
Click the Replication Manager icon in the left pane of the Replication Manager window.
Double-click the Add Replication Environment icon in the right pane. The Add Replication Environment wizard starts.
Enter the name of the environment. Click Next.
Assign a user name and password that will let you access the environment in a secure manner. Click Next.
Click Add and select the server type such as Replication Server, Adaptive Server Enterprise, and so on. Click Next.
In Select Server, select the server name from the drop-down list if the server is included in the interfaces or sql.ini file, or specify the server manually. Click Next.
Add a user name and password for the user. If you are adding a Replication Server, you must enter a user name and password for RSSD. Click Next.
Java does not support the roman8 character set. Do not
select roman8 in the character set field for a server connection.
Do not select “default” in the character set field
for a server connection if the server default is roman8. You must
select another character set that is compatible with the server
and Replication Manager.
Verify the summary page to ensure that you have added all the required servers. Click Finish.
The new environment object displays in the left pane under the Replication Manager object with the name you specified in the wizard.
