Adding and dropping servers

Before you manage a replication environment using Replication Manager, you must define the environment. A replication environment is the set of servers, such as replication servers, Adaptive Server Enterprise servers, DirectConnect, Replication Agent, Mirror Replication, and so on. The servers that you add to a replication environment can be local or remote.

If the sql.ini or interfaces file contains an entry for the server you want to add:

When you add a replication server, the Replication Manager automatically receives the name of that Replication Server RSSD.

For detailed information about the sql.ini file, see Replication Server Configuration Guide for Windows. For detailed information about the interfaces file, see Replication Server Configuration Guide for UNIX.

NoteIf you update the sql.ini or interfaces file while Sybase Central is running, you need only to restart any wizard or reopen any dialog box in progress. It is not necessary to restart Sybase Central for the changes to take effect.

See Adding a server and Dropping a server for detailed procedures.
