Configuring a standard warm standby environment

You can configure a warm standby environment manually or with the Configure Replication wizard. See Configuring a warm standby environment manually for detailed information about manual configuration.

StepsCreating a warm standby environment

  1. In the left pane, select the replication environment.

  2. In the right pane, double-click Configure Replication.

  3. On the Configure Replication wizard, select Create a Standard Replication Server Warm Standby Environment. Click Next.

  4. Select the active server and active database.

  5. Select the Replication Server that will manage the database connections.

  6. Select the standby server and standby database.

  7. Enter the name of the logical connection.

When using an existing connection to create a warm standby logical connection, the wizard automatically selects the logical connection name. This is because you must use the existing data_server and database names of the active database for the logical connection name. See the Replication Server Administration Guide, Volume 2 for more information.

  8. Enter the user name and password of the maintenance user. If the maintenance user does not exist, the wizard creates a maintenance user with a default name and password. Accept the default values or enter your own values.

  9. Select the user name and password that RepAgent will use to connect to Replication Server. If the RepAgent user does not exist, the wizard creates a RepAgent user with a default name and password. Accept the default values or enter your own values.

  10. Select the materialization method.

  11. Review the summary information about the replication environment and click Finish. Click Back to return to an earlier page in the wizard and modify the replication environment information. Go to the final wizard page, and click Finish.

If a server that you want to specify does not appear in the list, click Add Servers to open the Add Servers wizard. For detailed information, see the “Creating a replication environment” section.
